How it is calculated
a/b + c/d = (a·d + c·b) / (b·d)
a/b × c/d = (a·c) / (b·d) · a/b ÷ c/d = (a·d) / (b·c)
The result is simplified by dividing the numerator and denominator by their greatest common divisor (GCD).
Assumptions and limitations

Frequently asked questions
How do I add fractions with different denominators?
Multiply crosswise to get a common denominator: a/b + c/d = (a·d + c·b) / (b·d), then simplify. 1/2 + 1/3 = (3 + 2)/6 = 5/6.
How do I divide fractions?
Multiply the first fraction by the reciprocal of the second: a/b ÷ c/d = (a·d)/(b·c). 3/4 ÷ 2/3 = 9/8 = 1 1/8.
How do I enter a mixed number?
Type the whole number, a space and the fraction, for example 1 1/2. You can also enter decimals such as 0.75.
