How it is calculated
Share = Total ÷ People · Balance = Paid − Share
People with a negative balance pay people with a positive balance, starting with the largest balances.

Frequently asked questions
How do I split expenses fairly?
Add everything that was paid, divide by the number of people to get each share, and compare what each person paid with their share. Whoever paid less pays the difference to whoever paid more.
Why so few transfers?
The calculator matches the people who owe the most with the people who are owed the most, which keeps the number of payments low.
Can I split unequally?
This version splits equally. For unequal shares, split those items separately.
